Tacoma CB105CE4 Acoustic Electric Bass Guitar Reviews 5

I stumbled across the Tacoma CB105CE4 acoustic electric bass guitar at Guitar Center in Phoenix AZ while I was killing a couple of hours before picking my son up from football practice. I'm a 48 years old semi-pro musician (I play guitar and bass) and have played many, many guitars over the years. I was in the acoustic instrument section trying every high end instrument in the store. I was about to leave when I spied the "odd-looking" Tacoma Acoustic electric bass priced at $995.00 and on a whim picked it up and started playing. All I can say is "WOW!" I was blown away by the sound and feel of this instrument.

The volume output is incredible due to the size, shape and especially the placement of the sound hole in the upper section of the body of the guitar. The sound is clear as a bell, very deep clean bass and clear smooth highs The neck felt great, good action and intonation. Unplugged this bass is amazing but when I plugged it in I was equally blown away. The Fishman Prefix Plus electronics allowed for incredible tone shaping but still remained transparent (I know that sounds contradictory but its true). I played through a small Ampeg combo amp.

At first I wasn't thrilled by the unconventional looks of the instrument but it actually kind of grew on me as I played it (probably because it felt and sounded so great!)

In my opinion the quality of this instrument is on par with any high end Martin or Taylor. instrument The construction is excellent. Solid, no buzzes or rattles, all pieces are fitted together perfectly. Beautiful woods with no flaws. It has an untraditional design but that is what gives it the great sound and feel.

I would like to recommend that if you are looking for an acoustic electric guitar or bass, and haven't considered a Tacoma, give them a try. I think you will be surprised. I was in a very big way. The feedback that I get from other players that are familiar with Tacoma acoustic instruments is that the sound, feel and quality that I have described above is very typical of the full line of Tacoma acoustic instruments.
